Dead at the Scene - Sharktopus - CD (2010)

Labels: self released
Review by: Captain Fidanza

With a front cover seemingly inspired by the film “œMega-Shark versus Giant Octopus” and an image of a ships wheel printed on the disc, I wasn’t expecting an enormous amount from this. The piece of paper that accompanied the CD helpfully informed me that the band play “œprogressive metal” so I was hoping for something that might, in some way, progress this genre of music beyond simply shouting about stuff and a quiet bit where someone plays the guitar nicely. Sadly, I think perhaps the good burghers of Dead at the Scene may have confused the art of progressive metal with the act of gluing three different songs together and calling time.

Incidentally, good news for fans of Georgi Markov, the Bulgarian dissident murdered with an umbrella on Waterloo Bridge in 1978, apparently he is alive and well and designing CD covers for aspiring Evanescence cover bands from Edinburgh.
