Jackals are a relatively new uk hardcore group from around Norwich.

After a chuggy intro, this 7″ kicks into a thrashy number, and continues in that direction for the majority of the record. They sound a bit like Phoenix Bodies I think, especially as there’s two vocalists; one who sounds hoarse and throaty, where the others a bit harsher and screamed. The whole dual vocalists thing is definitely utilised well here, and theres some cool variation between the two. The first side barely lets off in the intensity ranks and they rarely let off the pace. On the flip they slow things down a couple of times and theres some cool guitar lines weaving all over the place and builds into an almost screamo-esque crescendo.

All in all, a decent first recorded output, and some serious promise. My only complaint is that on a couple of the songs theres a bit too much going on, which at times takes away from the focus of the song.
