Hmm, a band called Band Name. Hmm. Anyway, these Philadelphians do 3 songs of kind of geeky sounding, poppy punk. It’s endearingly simple and straight ahead, with sort of bored sounding vocals from the dude, and energetic kookiness from the girl. The music is nothing surprising, utilising back to basics punk rock riffage, and the fastest effort “the Countdown” is my favourite of the trio of tracks, rollicking along at a fine pace. “Opportunity” kind of reminds me of J Church. The recording is suitably lo fidelity, as befits a tape release of sloppy pop punk. This is solid stuff, without standing out from a wealth of other bands to have played this kind of music over the years. I suspect that with further recordings and shows, they’ll hone their sound and song writing further. For the meantime, this is solid but unspectacular.
