I find it mildly disconcerting that a band named Touch Me, Satan, entitling their EP “My First Time”, adorns the cover of their record with a picture of a small girl. HUH?? Anyway, this appears to be an obscure pop punk band from Seattle, and this is their first release. Where would I be without tidbits of information that came with records that I am supposed to review? Quite lost, I can tell you. Anyways, TMS do just 5 songs, and it only lasts 10 minutes or so. They kind of fly through the first one, which is poppy and fun with kinda snotty female vocals. Then “1+1+1” is a bit grungier, I guess they have to make a stab at grunge, coming from Seattle. I am not so into this one. I definitely prefer the faster tracks, which are energetic and scruffy, a fine combination. Overall it is standard fare for your angry, basic, female fronted punk. These guys really remind me of something that I can’t really put my finger on. Maybe something I haven’t listened to in a lot of years, like Red Aunts or something like that. One song has a riff that sounds like the James Bond music, hmm.
There is only 100 of these, thanks to TMS for sending one to us who are several thousand miles away, for this wasn’t bad at all. Didn’t blow my mind, but I wasn’t complaining either.
