Chris Clavin. You see, you’ve probably made up your mind already. It wouldn’t matter what I said after that. You most likely have either ordered a patch to sew onto your denim jacket (with the sleeves cut off) or you’ve flapped your lips so hard in dismissal that your screen is soaked in your scornful spittle. To be honest, there’s no real reason the latter group would be moved to join the former based on Chris’ latest outing. Nevertheless, for those still on the fence: Imperial Can play straight-ahead, sloppy pop-punk à la Crimpshrine or Max Levine Ensemble. Often they bring to mind another Plan-it-X band I’m very fond of, Abe Froman. It’s honestly quite good fun, but then I am quite partial to Ghost Mice/Captain Chaos so I doubt my testimony will sway any minds. I must note my disappointment as there is a song called ‘Only Babies Cry’ which I thought might be a Paul Baribeau cover as Chris Clavin already covered it as Ghost Mice. Sadly not. Nevertheless, if you have a bunch of Cometbus back issues littering your squat then this is for you.
