Having a bit of a tough time with this release. On the one hand it’s a solid slab of heavy, crusty hardcore which doles out gut punches like they were going out of fashion, stays the right side of ‘epic’ and tears into some little-discussed topics along the way (e.g. railing against dumb cunts involved in dogfighting, as opposed to renta-a-punk ‘copz r bad’ sloganeering). The flipside to all these plus points is the fact that, Sugi artwork or no, a great deal of it is such a dead fucking ringer for ‘Monuments To Thieves’ that it’s kind’ve hard to get yourself in the right headspace to enjoy the thing on its own merits without casting more than an occasional thought back to HHIG’s genre-defining masterpiece.
