These Belgians have quietly got on with doing their own thing for several albums now, and “Ghosts” is another fine addition to their oeuvre. This strange, alien ride has basic, stripped-down beats at its core, locked to the ground by thick, Melvins-y basslines, and then the whole thing is slathered with queasy drones that really drill into your cerebellum. Sometimes a more conventional bit of crushing powerchord or submerged yelling is tastefully unleashed, but essentially it’s a noise band with a doom backing. Different, odd and unsettling.
