The CD that Andy sent me would not play in my computer or indeed any of the five CD players in my house so I had to go onto the band’s Myspace and listen to the preview so generously provided on there.
Even though the music is bloody shit, I thought I would have a look at the two videos on the band’s page, one of which, for “I Hate This, Do You Like It?” is really good and as well as a man’s bottom, you get to see lots of people dressed up like zombies charging around the place and chasing the band into the Brundenell Social Club.
I went to the Brundenell Social Club on New Year’s Eve 2004 and had one of the very best evenings of my entire life. We went because Simon’s mum had seen a poster advertising a performance by The Mentors and “Going Through Your Purse” was playing on the radio the day I met my girlfriend in the remand home. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we discovered that Eldon Hoke, drummer and lead singer of The Mentors had been run over by a train in 1997 so we had to make do with Dion and The Belmonts. Here is their setlist from that night;
Runaround Sue
The Wanderer
Runaround Sue (Reprise)
The Wanderer (Reprise)

Going Through Your Purse (Request)
Encore

I think you will agree that there could have been few better ways to see in 2005 than by listening (and singing along!!!!!) to these classic hits from yesteryear.
RIP “” Dion Francis DiMucci.
What ? He’s not dead yet ? Oh…
