the Commune of Rochefourchat - s/t - CD (2010)

Labels: self released
Review by: David Giles

Aw God, I’ve requested another folk rock album. TCOR sound like a ton of other bands playing really pedestrian indie-rock or folk-rock or whatever the living fuck you want to call it. Its not as bad or as good as other stuff I’ve heard. Complete middle-of-the-road stuff. I feel like I should be doing something more productive than listening to something like this. I realise there is a trend of very trendy hipster art school students who enjoy a load of “˜folk revival’ that doesn’t really have much to do with folk music or reviving anything. This might appeal to the less socially-conscious of them who don’t really care if their friends think the music they pretend to LOVE is rad or not. Probably not to the “˜I ONLY LISTEN TO THE CREAM OF THE CROP CROWD’ though”¦ they’ll stick to fucking Laura Marling etc. no doubt. Skip the pretense and play us a beatdown, boys!
