Vanilla Pod - Poets on Payday - CD (2009)

Labels: Boss Tuneage
Review by: Graeme Cunningham

I didn’t know you still got records like this. It’s pop punk. But like, proper 90’s skatey pop punk. None of this post-Latterman bollocks all the youngsters like to bake vegan cup cakes, or yarn bomb too, or whatever it is they do these days.

Course the Podees do it right, cause they’re old as the hills and were putting out records before I was a horrible jaded cunt ( I have a Predatour t-shirt somewhere to prove it). It’d been some time since I’d heard anything from Camp Pod. But they’ve not really changed. They have got better at doing what they do, meaning this disk doesn’t have a single filler track on it. It just rocks along in an enjoyably melodic fashion. They do still have silly photo shopped pictures of themselves on the sleeve though. In a world of constant change, this kind of consistency is warmly reassuring…

This review is shockingly overdue by the way. I was enjoying it so much, I completely forgot to write about it.
