I think this had already been out a little while when I got my grubby
paws on a copy, then I forgot that I’d bought it and ended up with
another one.. oops. so who knows.. apologies for the tardiness. At
least I’m helping them shift units.

Carson Wells are the latest in a recent line of fine exports from
north of the border. Scotland appears to be loving the whole indie/emo
type of thing at the moment. Good going, chaps. It took me far too
long to review this for reasons that aren’t particularly apparent.
It’s all about snappy-twisty roiling post-hardcore in the world of
Carson Wells. There are obvious nods to bands in the vein of Sharks
Keep Moving, and Cap’n Jazz, thankfully managing to avoid excessive
noodles and poodle yelps.

The USP here is the vocals, they charter a risky course, but manage to
find an awesome niche, between straight up screams and garden variety
twiddlemo, they remind me quite a lot of Boy Problems actually, and
thats grand news. They add some bite and drive to the songs that’s
most welcome. This CD stays upbeat throughout, keeps the interest and
contains a few suprises. The switch to some midwestmo-esque meandering
half way through “Feed ’em to the pigs ‘arold!” being a particular
highlight.

So yup, this is short, but full of nourishing enriching sweetness.
Next up: a split 7 with another of Scotlands finest… please?
