Labels: Kreation – MeteorCity

Meant to review this when Kreation put the vinyl version out a lil while back, but for whatever reason never got round to it. Tsk. Thankfully the folks at Meteor City have seen fit to re-reissue it so I get a second bite of the cherry, and listening to it with fresh ears a year on I’m pleased to say that ‘Man Of Two Visions’ has lost none of its lustre. Split equally between the twin realms of trad doom (think early Trouble or Pentagram at their most rock n’ roll) and fist-pumping NWOBHM there’s a simple joy running through proceedings that’s hard not to be caught up in; the album led by powerful thrust n’ parry twin guitar work, the soulful cries of Jake Adams and the fact that these guys have nailed the ability to pen a bastard good tune when it suits them. If bullied into nitpicking I’d suggest shucking off the two nice-if-inessential instrumental numbers in favour of some more anthemic belters like ‘Apocalypse Unsealed’, but as it stands this sophomore effort still strides proudly toward Valhalla like the glorious warriors who fought and died before them.
