Screamo from Germany, there’s a surprise. The Force Within remind me a fair bit of other modern German bands such as Alpinist and It.Is.Imperative, and this is ultimately the downfall of this record. Whilst it is a solid piece of music, it not not differ enough from the crowd and in all honesty this style of screamo does not do enough for me. Crust and other hardcore influences such as occasional gang vocals, fast chords that ultimately all the sound the same; I’d rather be listening to Tristan Tzara or Mallorys Last Dance. Apologies to the band and label if this sounds a bit harsh, I appreciate that a bunch of bands are moving screamo into slightly new territory but it is not a place I particularly care to venture.
