Veloz - s/t - 7

Labels: Karmic Swamp
Review by: Derek Ludwig

Veloz are a hardcore band based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA featuring ex-members of Furnace
and Genders. The band has made a quick name for themselves off the back of three US tours in
their short but productive life-span. This seven inch, their first record, is a re-mastered version of
their demo and an eruption of all things I love about hardcore. Furious and unrelenting drums,
technical and ever changing guitar riffs, shouted/screamed vocals, and a lovely filling bass grumble.

Veloz pummel you with six songs in just under eight minutes, in what could be described as a fast,
descending treadmill to obliteration. This EP will leave you shaking your head in disbelief. Although
I find that it’s hard to pin down and compare a band like Veloz, imagine a marriage between
Converge, Left for Dead and Cursed. This is a precise, frantic and amazing record that I hope is the
first of many to come from these dudes.

This seven inch is limited to 500 copies, and features screen-printed inserts, vellum lyric sheets, and
a gorgeous full-colour cover courtesy of Branko Vranic.

Look out for Veloz this June on the UK leg of their European tour.
