Tough, loutish 80s-inspired hardcore that draws on the likes of SSD and Last Rights but, crucially, does it well. Things’re pushed so far in the red that they threaten to disintegrate into senseless bluster at any point, but are brutally reined in just before that crucial tipping point is reached. Feedback pisses through the songs like a blood-spattered maniac stumbling away from a horrific crime scene and there are actual songs here rather than mere slavish attention to amp tone and fine aesthetic detail. A stonking – if brief – clutch of songs and yet another band to chalk up in the ‘gutted to have missed’ category for 2010.
