Fell in love with this one pretty quickly. This is a little 6 track demo of fuzzed out slomo (SLOW EMO), with no drums. Just look at that image of the cover up there, it’s nice to see new bands respecting the old aesthetics (clichés?). All the songs on here roll around gently, with few outbursts or explosions. Guitars twinkle and blur together with the vocals. The vocals give me a strong sense of deja vu, but I simply can’t place who this guy sounds like. Here and there I am thinking Matt Mauldin from Car vs Driver or maybe the guy from Garden Variety, but I am not convinced that’s what I am searching for. And the music doesn’t specifically sound like any emo band either, but the feeling is Boys Life’s “Departures & Landfalls”. This is music to listen to whilst wandering empty fields, passing radio towers and witnessing mile long freight trains plod by. “Roofies” keeps you on your toes by throwing in some saxaphone. Smoothmo. It’s a super lovely song, on a super lovely demo. I would also say that this band sounds like the Interstate Ten, but that reference will prove useful for about 5 of you, and you already stopped reading this review to check the band out when I mentioned Boys Life.
So, uh, yeah, this is pretty special.
