Letters - Grand National - CD (2011)

Labels: self released
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Thought I’d manage to scare off the various PR companies who had been mistargeting us but looks like we’ve picked up another who scraped our address without bothering to read a word we wrote. Take a bow Sound and Vision PR! Though perhaps I am being harsh, as Letters aren’t even close to the inexorable tide of dreadful music that the likes of Covert PR used to foist upon me. This sounds like modern Jimmy Eat World, at their most serious. Pleasant pop rock with a cello and some electronic interludes, occasionally exploding into rock outs. The vocals are nice, betraying the Scottish roots of the band to good effect, but overall, it’s just not really C material.
