Ehnahre - Alpha / Omega - CD (2010)

Labels: Fun With Asbestos
Review by: David Giles

Ehnahre is members of Kayo Dot playing left-field, “˜experimental’ doom-ish metal. The entire record is a total atonal, distortion heavy, squealing, what’ll-happen-next mess (be that positive or negative depending on your tastes). I’ve read some other reviews of this record and it seems to be general consensus that the band is well technically proficient. My reaction to reading that was a bit like the face I made when my dad let me listen to Naked City at 14 and told me they were the faither. Maybe it’d be okay to conclude then that Ehnahre are a musician’s band”¦ albeit in a very different way to how Maiden are a musician’s band. This is definitely not shite but, unfortunately, my palate plain isn’t sophisticated enough to appreciate this and, while I didn’t have a nightmare of a time listening to this, I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d put it on in the future. One for the noise-heads, I guess.
