Annabel is one of those bands that I’ve heard a lot about but never got around to listening to. This was my first time listening to them.
At first listen, I feel like I’m fifteen and listening to Blink 182. Not because this sounds anything like Blink 182 did, but because it invokes a feeling similar to the one that fifteen year old me got listening to Dude Ranch.
That aside, this is an alright single. I didn’t get a physical copy, so I can’t comment on the record itself or the packaging, but the music is solid enough. Indie with lots of group vocals and singalongs, some pretty guitar work, etc. The PR writeup it came with was pretty wordy, and at times laughable (“a seemingly endless supply of exclamation point moments!”), but the songs are catchy and it’d probably be a good listen while driving at night. Worth checking out if you’re a fan of the genre.
