I don’t know whether it was intentional or just because it’s out on Coffee Beat but I can’t help but hear the emo in this. The guitars seem to bear a lot of resemblance to the jaunty mathiness of bands like Know Think, particularly on “Grow” and instrumental number “Ooh”. Perhaps it is my imagination. Either way, I dig it. On the last track “Girl” they slow it down and sound a bit more like Real Estate – which is nice – but I kind of like them better when the pace is a little more frantic. Means I can use obnoxious made-up genre names like “Creedencemo” or “Country-Math”. I do love coming up with obnoxious genre names. More of this please.
