Cease To Exist - demo - Tape (2010)

Labels: Disposable Culture
Review by: Alex Deller

This is good. Why? Because it’s driven by the same desperate, hateful urge for human annihilation that powered the likes of Unruh and seems to have dragged Gehenna kicking and screaming back from the grave. Recorded fucking terribly (intentional or not? You decide…), you have to crank the dial on your idiot walkman to breaking point just to hear anything beyond lo-fi black metal buzz and waterlogged gurglings, your grasping fingers occasionally brushing against solid lumps of filthy bass, coherent riff or sneering, venomous rasp as you pan for gold in a slow-moving river of shit. A sterling statement of intent, then, and one that hammers home the message that their name is not so much a weak-kneed surrender as a barked order to just about everybody else on this godforsaken planet.
