Taut, dissonant metallic hardcore out of Belgium here, this 7″ featuring four crisply-played tracks that’re all serrated edges, momentary changes of tack or direction and scorch-lunged howls of torment. While comparisons to the likes of Converge and Drowningman will rightfully come thick and fast, Reno at least maintain a careful sense of purpose that many of today’s kerrazy metalcore acts lack, forgoing egregious wank so’s to ensure the songs retain their immediacy, bile and punch rather than sink beneath a morass of sweep-picked histrionics. Nice enough, certainly, and definitely one for the stack if this sound continues to wet your whistle.
