The middle ones are from Bristol, which for a town filled with hippies
has a good punk/art/indie scene albeit one ruled with an iron fist by
a man called Michal William.
This is sort of anti folk I suppose, a bit twee indie too, I have no
doubt they would be sickened to be called either of those, but bad
luck.
I’m not a particular fan of this kind of music really, I can bear a bit
of Kimya Dawson and what have you (except that song at the end of Juno
of course, that makes me want to sick up in my mouth (my housemate
went to a wedding where the bride and groom sang that at each other! I
don’t think it gets any more sickening than that)).
I like this record though, it is quite twee but not too horribly,
nicely recorded, and I found that I had got through most of it without
wanting to turn it off, the song ‘drops’ is particularly good.
