Welter - the Bush Years - CD (2011)

Labels: self released
Review by: Ted Reynolds

When i saw this, the its bulldog front cover, I thought I’d got some Victory records compilation to review, It was with some relief that it turned out not to be that.

I think Welter might be a dog, if only it was one of those bands with an animal as a singer. Isn’t there some band with two dog singers? Or am I thinking of Raging Speedhorn? Yoink!
Pop rock of the middle of the road variety, apparently they have been compared to The Weakerthans, and Jawbreaker amongst others, but its more like a not as good Lemonheads really.
It’s just really normal, I’m finding it hard to get enthused by it. The songs are quite short, and if it was in the background you wouldn’t mind it. You know what? It’s a grower, I’m warming to it as it goes along. It’s not mindblowing, but i’ve put up with far worse.
