I fear for the worst having read through the toss of the press sheet. This starts out pretty nicely somewhere between A Silver Mt Zion and Ida, looped and layered post-rock feeding into moments of calm folk. Before the track is up though its been blown by an excess of layers before winding up in a Kid A inspired mess. This formula repeats in various iterations throughout. At its best this is a demonstration of accomplished composition; at its worst overworked and falsely grandiose. I love that bit in Independence Day where Will Smith punches the alien and says “Welcome to Earth”, but overall the film is kind of mince.
