Proper dinky little 3″ CDR here of a type I haven’t seen in a while, all so handmade that the painted CD stuck to the inside of the cardboard slipcase. Nice start so far, and the music doesn’t disappoint: four tracks of brittle, spidery stuff reminiscent of Off Minor or the earlier My Disco cuts. There’s maybe a dash of classic Frenchmo (Peu Etre, Weep etc.) in there too, and while it’s clearly less virtuosic than Off Minor the spirit’s most certainly there and LVDA’s knack for febrile, trebly stop-start licks is definitely not to be sniffed at. Vocals are by turns hollered or semi-spoken and every once in a while something unexpected happens, like the non-shite saxophone weaving in and out of the first track or the enjoyably woozy turn ‘Storia Di Ferro E Defecasione’ takes mid-way through. Pretty damn good, I’d say!
