Labels: Holy Roar
Review by: Jon Welsh
Okay, where do I begin with this one?
run, WALK! are one of THOSE bands, slightly quirky name, playing a kind of music that hasnt been done well since the likes of Antioch Arrow & Mohinder – kind of sassy, if not a little overly agressive sounding, non-screamo. To be fair to the Winchester based duo, they create an impressive amount of noise out of just bass & drums. Holy Roar seem to have a knack for finding these kind of bands that are young and fashionable enough to be popular, but also interesting sounding enough to let the guys running the label remain respected in their scenes.
Sirs on the other hand are a completely different beast. Not too sure how these two bands got round to releasing a split with each other. Sirs fall more on the Drive Like Jehu side of post-hardcore. Noisy, but still full of tunes and the main thing that run, WALK! appear to be missing – heart.
Buy this 7″, but take a pair of scissors to one side. Too harsh?
