Labels: Southern Lord
Review by: Alex Deller
Another day, another metallic, crust-inspired hardcore release from Southern Lord. By now you’re doubtless as bored as me of the same drawn-out yammerings which basically amount to: “it sounds like His Hero Is Gone,” so I’ll just leave it as saying they’re not as glossy as All Pigs Must Die and the songs are better than those penned by oiks like Masakari or Balaclava. To be fair the band do sound suitably pissed and things’re infinitely better when the higher-pitched fella shoulders the rote HHiG bellower aside and squawks like his head’s gonna fall off (e.g. ‘Disease’), but at the end of the day you’d be better off picking up the Drainland and/or Seven Sisters Of Sleep releases this label has put out since, y’know, they actually sound a bit different.
