Tennis’ recent LP ‘Cape Dory’ came close to sneaking into my top 10 records for the year and it easily won worst album cover. Anyway, the duo have two new songs here which and they will only enhance their reputation. Alaina’s voice combines delightfully with Patrick’s chirpy guitar lines and they form a unique act together, with keyboards and drums helping to fill out the sound. When she starts harmonising with herself I go a bit numb, it’s beautiful. They sound so goddamn happy, a sharp contrast to my usual music tastes. Overall I can’t really recommend this band enough – like Real Estate they play the sort of indie music that should be on the radio and TV, but I’m quite happy if it’s kept somewhat secret.
