So it turns out that someone in this band was in Dina many moons ago. I suspect not many people remember Dina, I barely do myself but there is a review of them on here. Anyway, Code Break definitely sound nothing like Dina, offering up six tracks of dead straight forward, Minor Threat influenced hardcore punk. It’s energetic, sweaty and pretty solidly done, just I am not really a regular listener of this style so I can’t really suggest that it stands out in any way from the legion of local hardcore punk bands I have seen play in Norwich over the years. Certainly the kind of thing where a few local kids who get to see the band regularly and learn the songs will be into it and bounce each other around the dance floor, but outside of the local scene, it’s the sort of thing that doesn’t really travel well, as literally everywhere has at least one band that is similar to this. I don’t want to be too harsh, this is well done, it has a good recording and the songs are pretty solid, I certainly didn’t skip any thing. If you live in Liverpool and are into this style then you should probably go and check them out live I reckon.
