Seriously, how does Toronto do it? The bloody place seems to churn out grade-a hardcore acts like it was the simplest thing in the world, and Violent Future are the latest gurning example. There’re six tracks here and each one’s a hip-stomping brute of a thing that’s all swinging fists and blood-streaked teeth. A couple of tracks have the same kind of incessant, repetitious pound that made me so fond of the title cut from Deaf Mutations’ ‘Crash The Clubs’ 7″, but these guys have a burlier, boots n’ braces Negative Approach flavour that sets them well apart and places them more in CREEM territory. A great start, then, and one that kicks the shit out of most hc 7″s I seem to have picked up lately despite its demo status.
