Why the name Richard Parker? Who knows. But this four-piece from Leeds play a style of music that I can still very much get on board with. Mellow post-rock that doesn’t take reach the outer limits with its beauty, but nonetheless has me somewhat entranced. Once We Were are still unlikely to be beaten when it comes to this sort of sound, partly because they were the first band I saw do it. Richard Parker have a bit more to them to be fair, dipping into Explosions In The Sky Territory at times and attempting some mini build ups and such like without completely stealing from the Mono rulebook. I like it, and if I lived in Leeds I’d definitely be going to gigs to see them. Promising stuff.
