This is the debut album from Spanish punks, The Pink Elephants. Before I put this on I was hopeful that I could be positive. I really didn’t want to be mean and start using awful wisecracks like “Pink Elephants? Don’t you mean “White Elephants”?”. They are from Barcelona and play a kind of rocky, pop punk. I like the Garbage Pail Kids-style artwork on the cover. The lyrics are in English “” I prefer bands to sing in their own language but that’s just my take on it. The strong accent does lend them a certain charm. However, it’s not really for me. I find the lyrics make me cringe at times (“like there’s no tomorrow cos there isn’t, there isn’t one”). It certainly rests on the rockier side of pop punk displayed by the frequent use of the word “baby”. I can see them doing some rock poses on songs like “Shake The Baby!”. They cite The Wildhearts and Turbonegro as influences “” neither of whom I know much about but perhaps if you like either of those bands you might be into this. There is very little to lose if you like either of those bands as this available for free download.
