Low Fat Getting High - Live Moderately, Die Whenever - Download (2012)

This Brooklyn 3-piece describe themselves as a noise punk band. They have at least one band member of Schocholautte who I reviewed recently and wasn’t overly positive about. I think it may be the same singer but this band are indeed a lot more noisy and punk than them. It’s got a lo-fi, garage-y sound and the same warped vocals as Schocholautte. There is a fair amount of urgency and yelling over distorted guitars and various effects on some of the tracks. I would prefer them to lessen the effects on the guitars at times though as I find it tends to dominate parts of some of the songs such as the first track, the nicely titled “Don’t Be Jealous Of My Jazzmaster”. They have quite a lot of energy. “Clean My Act Up” has a tribal drumbeat and is pretty raucous. The last track is some noise and feedback that I would happily never hear again. Overall though, I am pleased to say that this is not bad at all. It appeals a lot more to me than Schocholautte – so much so that I am opting to at least not ban them from my lastfm library. If you like one of these songs you will probably like all of them as they do have a certain sound.
