Urine - s/t - CD (2012)

Labels: self released
Review by: Captain Fidanza

Urine is a watery, typically yellowish fluid stored in the bladder and discharged through the urethra. It is one of the body’s chief means of eliminating excess water and salt and also contains nitrogen compounds such as urea and other waste substances removed from the blood by the kidneys

This album has twenty one songs on it, the first one is a recording of a six year old playing the recorder and the remainder are all short, hard and incredibly fast.

I don’t know if the vocalist is purposefully channelling Lydon or not, but the most shrieking moments here reminder me of him. Back in ’76 I mean, not now when he’s selling houses in California.

Though I think this band are French, there is a song on here called What Would You Do if You Didn’t Have Any More Tea? Which makes me think they’re either anglophiles or taking the juice. If you are a fierce Francophobe, you might like to write to Dylan Bendall at his address in Saint-Germain-En Laye for clarification, or you could maybe just listen to something else.

I however, choose to continue listening to this, even though it’s called Urine.

By the way, calling your band Urine is one thing, but having the word written on the cover in a font resembling yellow liquid is quite another.

Au revoir les enfants.
