I have enjoyed A Flower Kollapsed over the years whilst trying to get my head around their sound and never quite managing to! My favourite release is the Brown Recluse 10”, which I reviewed a few years ago. This new record, also released as a 10” (plus CD) doesn’t depart much from that sound except it does feel to me to lack the intensity of old and I must admit that I connect even less with it – perhaps it’s me getting old too. Crazy fast guitars whirr all over the place, jangling and jarring, like a simplified but sped up Botch, whilst screams emit over the top in a by now characteristic fashion. It’s another solid effort from the band but whilst I have a lot of time for their innovation, I can’t say that this record gets me particularly excited 🙁
