Minus Pilots - Hitting up the Heavens - CD (2012)

Labels: Eat, Sleep, Repeat
Review by: Captain Fidanza

Receiving this brought back fond memories of the previous Minus Pilots album I reviewed here, which acted as a soundtrack for a handmade book which accompanied it.

Somewhere on the sleeve, someone has chosen to explain the constant crackling which runs throughout this CD, claiming it to be a result of the ancient machinery in which the music was recorded. I rather liked the crackle if I’m honest, it introduced a warm homeliness to a medium sometimes rendered sterile by the constant digital remastering software now available.

Not that a distant crackle is all this CD has to recommend it, far from it in fact, but if the idea of wordless music made on machinery which has seen significantly better days appeals to you, then this recording is something you should look into acquiring.
