This band features former members of The Shang-a-Langs, one of whom was also in The Marked Men. I haven’t listened to The Marked Men in ages but what a band they were. There are certainly hints of their sound on this record but I will avoid dwelling on former glories as this band is very good in its own right if this 7inch is anything to go by. Three of the tracks here are garage-y poppy punk with a lo-fi sound but still a little polished (if that makes sense). There are some catchy choruses and a cracking garage-y guitar sound along the way too. My favourite track on here is “I Didn’t Know”. The contrast between restrained vocals in the first half and the more yelled vocals in the second half of that song really does it for me. The first track on side B, ‘Nervous Wreck’, is a bit more of a thrashy tune and the odd one out here. It picks up the pace and is gone in just over a minute. Very good 7inch with some catchy tunes – it bodes well for a future album. I am not the only who likes this – four labels saw fit to get together to give this a release, so it’s a popular choice.
