Always nice to get sent something for review that’s so far up your alley you’ll ultimately end up digging it out with the business end of a screwdriver. Case in point: Multicult, who kinda sound like Big Black playing Hammerhead songs. Did I here you splutter ‘woah!’ through that sludgy mouthful of orangeish corn snacks? Yeah, me too when I heard it, and truth be told this lot are definitely worthy of such incredulity, playing short, terse little songs whose pieces “” rangy guitars, rhythmic snaps, jittery harmonic pecks and indecipherable yells “” slot uneasily together like the slivers of thin, rusty metal that might comprise the world’s cruellest jigsaw puzzle. Well worth a go if you like music that does its best not to be in any way likeable, then. Chances are you already know whether that means you or not.
