Scrappy, out of style and a little bit unhinged, this is pretty much unlike anything else I have heard this year, these 10 tracks are about as far away from ‘polished’ as imaginable. If this is what Edinburgh sounds like who needs the ghost walks. One minute the band are in full singalong, fuzzy punk mode, the next they are singing a bizarre funereal dirge called ‘Sad as Dead Monkeys’. There are certainly a lot of ideas here led by the vocal ‘stylings’ which really direct the tracks – whether they are overly distorted or not – sounding hectic, passionate and breathless. This is certainly not background music to be put on to just ‘be there’ and the distortion, oddly structured songs and sheer variety of sounds and instruments make sure that is the case.
