If pop punk is your thing then this 7inch is worth a look. There are four bands on here, two from the UK and two from the US each contributing one track. The vinyl is blue. Calvinball are up first and their slower, lumbering track is at least two minutes longer than most of the other bands’ efforts. It is typically sloppy, messy and replete with their shouty, throaty singalong vocals – really good and a good example of their output. I’ve had a lot of fun seeing them play live in the past. They reckon this song reminds them of the Dawson’s Creek theme tune. Rumspringer’s track is melodic, full of energy and rides a pretty cool bassline – it’s probably the most restrained track on here vocally. On the B side, New Yorkers Mayflower hurtle through “Open Container” which is pretty straight-up punk rock. The final track on here is “Primark Princess” which is an anthemic shouty thing from The Dauntless Elite. It is very English-sounding with its lyrical topics and Yorkshire accent in the vocals. Not much to argue about here – neat artwork and four solid tracks on show. Only one track each but this is a nice taster for each of the bands. Calvinball’s track is the best one on here for me.
