Some rather lovely emo pop here from these guys, I particularly am rather taken with the breathy vocals that mean this sounds way like the Jealous Sound on the cracking opener “Home Siq”. It’s all upbeat and a little cheesy but in the days when emo pop is pretty much a non-existent genre, I am always going to be ready for a little cheese to come and sweep me away into a tide of smiles. Later, they inject a serious amount of jazzy bounce into “Run on Sentences” which was also nice. The acoustic leanings that they have going on with “Dying In Bed Alone” (so ‘mo) are slightly less appealing, but not disastrously so, just I prefer when they stick to the pop songs.
So hey, we have 5 tracks here – it’s all so uncomplicated and unburdened of pretense. Gentle, homemade indie/emo for those days when you can’t get your head around anything else. Good work.
