Philippe Petit - Eugenie - 10

Labels: Alrealon
Review by: Captain Fidanza

This album from “œmusical travel-agent” Philippe Petit is a dizzying mix of processed acoustics, field recordings, electronica and most of what’s to be found in the seedier backstreets of most small to medium sized conurbations in northeastern France.

Hark, the sound of a cello being played with a viola.

“œEntre le boeuf et l’âne gris
Dort, dort, dort le petit fils,
Mille anges divins,
Mille séraphins,
Volent à l’entour de ce Dieu d’amour.”

I think we’ll mark this one as beautiful, introduce it to “œKung Fu Meets the Dragon” by Lee Perry and just stand back and marvel at the children their union produces. Here’s my prediction:

Chess Grandmaster by 9. Married and divorced by 21.Dead in a filthy Parisian garret by 25.

But what a lovely light that kid will emit.
