I get the idea of effect. I get that having echoey shit all over the place is the done thing at the moment. I get why you might want your recording to sound crap in a way that might, potentially, make it sound good. I don’t get why you might want your record to sound like it comprises powerless, lazily-played Heroin covers while your singer mumbles his words at just above indoor-voice volume.
