I can easily stomach post-rock these days because I only hear bands play it from time to time. Collapse Under The Empire are a two-piece inspired by the well known bands of this genre. The music would fit well as a soundtrack to nature videos or something like that. That’s not a criticism, it just my first impression. I could quite easily put this on the background and sway along to it as I spend yet another weekend at my computer doing work. There are plenty of neat build ups and riffs. ‘Beware/lost’ is by far the best track in my opinion, doing an excellent job of bringing instruments in and out. It wanders about and starts to really hit the nail on the head at 3 minutes. The rest of the album doesn’t live up to this but at the same time it never gets dull.
