Named after everyone’s favourite Ewok scout, warrior and ruler of Bright Tree Village, Wicket play post rock and come from Cardiff. There are 3 tracks here which offer up some good variation. The opener is pretty twiddly and gets its groove on. It is the most unusual track on here and veers away from the stereotypical post rock breakdowns and quiet/loud parts. Track 2 is closer to more standard post rock with its melancholy and atmospheric opening and it gradually gets more layered as the track builds. It then bursts into life with some bigger guitar, which is closer to something like Mono, before some lighter, more melodic guitar carries this one to its conclusion. This one is really good. The most atmospheric song on here is the last one, “Get In, Ms Riley”. It is mid-paced and again this one builds gradually over the track and is interspersed with some ambient sounds and guitar. Pretty good – already sent the Bandcamp link on to my post-rock loving friend who I have no doubt won’t be able to get enough of this.
