Crossings from Lincoln take the A side of this tape doing their indiemo thing. The guitar sound is nice and pretty – fans of Ten Speed Bicycle won’t be disappointed in this one. There is a more twiddly bit towards the end. Good song – nice and sad. The main singer has a subdued style a bit like the guy from Everyone Everywhere and the backing vocals are more yelled. This song has got me interested and I’d like to hear more from these guys. Wrestling’s song features some similarly pretty guitar but much more raucous vocals that move from shouted to yelled and some almost-but-not-quite gang vocals near the end. Their song “Reyno Coolo” is a bit more ramshackle, brash and bolshy. I must admit that I’m a bit of a sucker for the janglier side of the guitar sound that both these bands have on this tape. Cool split!
