This a demo of solo work from a guy who was in Pine Away which will interest quite a few people who read this website regularly. These are four songs which were written over a seven year period between 2004 and 2011 and he played all the instruments on here. The opener is a shimmering, atmospheric instrumental and the remaining three songs are some nice and lo-fi indie rock that remind me of something like Sentridoh – it feels rough around the edges and even unfinished but it only adds to the charm. “Portland, Winter (And I Wish It Were Raining)” is really nice and has some subdued vocals and a really cool jangly guitar sound. “Walking The Talk” features a hint of electronica and its offbeat nature also makes me think of early Pavement. Closing track “The Embarkation Of The Expelled Moriscos” again has some lovely jangly guitar and those laidback vocals – probably the best song on here. Nice stuff and it’s good that these songs have finally seen the light of day.
