To Be Hated - Banned In Dade County - 7

Labels: Suburban White Trash
Review by: Alex Deller

This band seem to have a shit-tonne of albums out but the first I get to hear of ’em is this here live 7″. Sounds solid enough despite the variable sound quality, with what you get being hoarse, bouncy ’77 punk that should appeal if you dig the Clash, Social Distortion (think the scrawniness of their early days mixed with the more pronounced rawk of their latter efforts), Smalltown or that Finnish lot Wasted. There’s choruses a-plenty, sloppy rock n’ roll solos all over the shop and plenty of energy on display, particularly on standout cut ‘Mind Control’ which rounds the lil four-tracker out. It’s a sturdy spin for sure and worthy of a Bandcamp listen if you’re curious, but as with almost every live record ever you have to wonder how many non-fans such a release is ever truly going to win over.
