This is a new six-tracker from Norwich’s Olympians who are back with some more than pleasant synth-led indie here. Some of these songs have been released previously but are given a more layered revamp here – additional beats, trumpets, glockenspiels, all sorts. This reminds me a little of Chris Charlton from Pylon’s side project, Shake Your Halo Down – very nice, chilled-out melodies and clean, sung vocals. A little electronica creeps in throughout led by the synth but that old familiar twiddly guitar reappears on “We Lost Our Hair And In A Way Our Minds” and the harmonies on this one are very sweet indeed. Also, their sense of humour allows them to get away with some bizarre lyrics like “You spent your whole life inside watching shit documentaries on TV” and “I work a horrible job every day/And I believe in music as truth and things like that/What a stupid arsehole”. “Home Is Where Your Heart Breaks” makes for a lovely, melodic closing track. It’s really nice throughout actually and the more I listen to it, the more I like it.
